Midwifery Alliance of Aboriginal Thought is restoring the traditions of midwifery.

MaaThought was created as a sacred space to revive the traditions and essence of midwifery for our community. Historically, midwives were essential figures—baby catchers, community healers, womb health consultants, sisters, and friends. Everyone knew their community midwife.

At MaaThought, our mission is to deliver exceptional, personalized care, helping you harmoniously restore your holistic wellness. We offer expert support for fertility, perinatal health, menstrual and reproductive health, and menopausal transitions, fostering a complete sense of well-being for every woman throughout her unique journey.

Midwife

Yemarishet Macharia

Yemarishet has been attending births since the mid 1990’s, first as a birth assistant, then as a midwife. She has worked in hospital, birth center and home settings and believes that birth is a psychological process that, in addition to being powerful, can actually be quite enjoyable. She believes strongly in community (whoever that means to you) and the divine creative feminine. Yemarishet brings her love of all things women’s health, herbs, artistic, somatic and quantum healing to Midwifery Alliance of Aboriginal Thought… and looks forward to connecting with you!

Sesheta Tafari

Greetings and welcome!

I'm Sesheta, & you can call me She. I'm an adventurer and explorer who loves connecting with women across generations. I enjoy spending most of my time outdoors as nature- whether by the river, in the woods, or going for a run.

Originally from Cincinnati, OH, but I spent my character developing years in Memphis, TN, where I graduated. I'm blessed with two beautiful daughters and a loving husband who fuel me with love and support in this important work.

Seven years ago, I embarked on my journey in fertility and birth support as a doula. My passion for serving women during these pivotal moments is a calling I was born with.

I trained as a midwife through direct apprenticeship here in the Tristate area where I will continue to serve & support.
